Who is a Whistleblower?
A whistleblower is a person who exposes wrongdoing, misconduct, or illegal activities within an organisation whether public or private because they believe it is in the public interest to do so.
Purpose
They speak out to prevent harm, corruption, fraud, or abuse of power.
Channels
Whistleblowers may report internally (to management or compliance departments) or externally (to regulators, media, or law enforcement).
Risk
They often face retaliation, such as job loss, harassment, or legal challenges, even though they are acting to protect public trust.
Impact
Their actions can lead to accountability, policy reform, and systemic change.
