Nothing was stolen from the scene, strengthening suspicions that the murder was intended to silence him.
President Cyril Ramaphosa publicly condemned the killing, describing van der Merwe’s testimony as “brave” and reaffirming the need for stronger protection for those who expose corruption and criminality.
